I admire the brave heroes who take a stand to oppose evil and stop tyranny. Because people like that exist, there is a possibility that we will move this world to be a better place for our descendants. I have personally given my life to the cause of fighting the evil that exists in the hearts and the minds of mankind.
Two people we should hold in honor are Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. They took a stand against a tyrant who thought that the law was on his side. It was from that tyrant’s evil that the and Larkin Frontera Fund was found.

This is because Sheriff Arpaio was directly responsible for several atrocities against his fellow human beings. These atrocities of the Maricopa County Sheriff would be revealed on the Phoenix New Times and also on the Village Voice Media.
These outlets revealed horrible things about Arpaio. It was clearly shown how his jails were wretched hovels and were disease ridden. During their time there, many Latino inmates suffered many wrongful deaths that just “could not be explained”.
It was found that the funds for the Sheriff department had been mismanaged. The books were a lie. Arpaio, who many said used his power to attack his foes, did so to Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin for being brave enough to expose his evils. October 18, 2007, was the night that Arpaio used the law to attack American citizens. Coming to the homes of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin in unmarked SUVs, Sheriff Arpaio would illegally enter and illegally arrest both Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin in their homes respectively. They would then be illegally detained and interrogated.
The American population, much to their credit, cried out against this act and twenty four hours later, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were released.
A $3.75 million lawsuit against the Maricopa County Police department followed. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin gained justice.
The settlement was appropriated by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin to the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. This fund’s mission was to bankroll non-profits who commit themselves to causes that supported human rights and free speech.
